Nothing Less Than 73rd Amendment Acceptable : Anil Sharma

The event started with lighetning of the traditional lamp , followed by national anthem and 2-minutes silence tributes to the martyred panches and sarpanches who had sacrificed their lives

In his address to the gathering Anil Sharma, president of the organization thanked the participants for their  strong belief in democracy which is depicted through their courage and sincerity that even in the political hostile atmosphere in the state they gracefully completed their tenure of five years.
Sharma said the only and only solution that can strengthen democracy and bring political stability in the state is full empowerment of panchayats and and local bodies in the state   which is enshrined only in the 73rd and 74th amendment of the Indian Constitution that calls for separate election and finance commission.

Countering the illogical arguments of some ministers and legislatures who are trying to defend the decision of the state government to hold indirect elections of the sarpanches, he asked them to apply same method in electing MLC and let the panches and sarpanches then elect members of legislative assembly and councils then why did they need to hold separate elections.

Shafiq Mir, Chairman of the organization too condemned the apathetic approach of the state government and asked the state government to extend exgratia relief to the family members of the deceased panchayat members besides suitable government job to next of kin.
